Northumberland Scribes

Writer Bio — Mary Fleming

Born in a land half a world away, I have always been a ‘scribbler’. I made up stories first for my dolls, then my siblings – always ghost stories (I was very aware at an early age that ‘hooking’ my reader was essential) and finally once I had learned to write, putting the stories down on paper, just for you.

I write for the love of it and like most of our group, am an avid reader – of good writing.

This group gives us, among other things, ways to improve our own writing.

In addition, we are now the Northumberland Scribes – so in just over 50 years I have gone from being a ‘Scribbler’ to a ‘Scribe’ – definite progress I would say.
